WHITE CO.—Calmed down from an earlier outburst in the courtroom in Carmi, murder suspect Thomas Davidson re-appeared in front of Judge Mark Shaner for his first advisement of charges at 10:45 this morning.
Davidson had been pulled from the courtroom by deputies and court security, cussing all the way about “not understanding this shit” and “you need to break it down for me.”
Davidson had started haranguing the judge as soon as Shaner was in the midst of reading the second of Davidson’s four First Degree Murder charges in the death of Indiana woman Sandra Burkhardt.
This second go-round, Davidson was much more compliant with Shaner, who took up the first advisement of charges with the second of the four counts, all of which charge that Davidson shot Mrs. Burkhardt, the fourth when he was in the commission of a felony, vehicular hijacking.
He is also charged with Aggravated Battery of a Firearm.
Davidson wil likely face numerous felonies in connection with the acts he’s alleged to have committed across four counties in Indiana (Gibson, Posey, Pike and Warrick) which lead up to his discovery in Pike County, and alleged confession to authorities where he had dumped the body of Burkhardt, in a cornfield about a mile west of the village of Crossville in White County.
Davidson is currently being held in the White County jail on $2 million bail ($200,000 cash bond). He claims to be unemployed and have no assets, and was appointed attorney Jerry Crisel as his public defender in this case.
