GIBSON CO., Ind.—Reports coming from Gibson County have indicated that the man wanted in connection with the disappearance of a Princeton, Ind., woman has been taken into custody at Gibson County.
Thomas Davidson, 25, has been detained in connection with burglaries in Warrick and Pike Counties and the disappearance Sandra Burkhardt and a shooting in Posey County.
Officials say the shooting happened early Saturday morning in Mount Vernon, Ind.. Mount Vernon Police Chief Grant Baloat says a shot was fired at a woman from inside another car at her; she suffered only minor injuries.
We’ve just talked to Gibson County authorities, and are supposed to call the sheriff in about an hour, but right now those at the sheriff’s department are saying that Burkhardt’s whereabouts are still unknown. She was last seen leaving Walmart in Princeton around 10:15 last night (Friday, August 16).
A Gibson County Sheriff’s department spokesperson has advised the department knows Burkhardt made it back to her home after 10 p.m. (when she was last seen, at Walmart) because that is where her young grandchild was found alone, when the child’s mother came to get him and found him, but no Burkhardt.
Officials believe Davidson stole Burkhardt’s car, a late-model silver Ford Focus, the same car they believe was involved in the Mount Vernon shooting.
Davidson was found and detained four miles east of Pike Central High School in a wooded area, according to the Gibson County Sheriff’s department. They advised he was in possession of a hand gun.
We are in touch with members of Davidson’s family, who is advising that the man has a history of being erratic and violent.
When we hear from the Gibson County sheriff, we’ll bring more….keep checking back.
