SALINE CO.—Saline County officials have released information indicating that what went on yesterday at Harrisburg Lake had nothing to do with an alleged Unlawful Restraint issue.

But that word went around the county before Disclosure was able to get officials to issue a press release on the matter.

We’re beginning to wonder if it isn’t something in the (expensive) water….

Multiple reports reaching Disclosure last night at about 6 p.m. were very disturbing: that a woman had been found out at Harrisburg Lake, tied up and screaming under a trailer or camper, claiming she’d been there for a couple of days. Other reports filtered in stating that she’d told investigating authorities that she’d been held against her will at the camper for two weeks, although not restrained for that long.

The truth, as it turned out, was a little less sensational.

However, the reality of it is strange enough, which you’ll see when you read this…and all the crossovers that are involved, which makes us wonder if there’s not something in the ground here in Saline County that’s pulling in people from other areas all over the region and landing us all here in the Harrisburg area.

According to the press release just received, Saline County deputies responded to Durham Road near Harrisburg Lake yesterday (August 8, 2013) at approximately 4:30 p.m. for a possible domestic battery call.

As deputies arrived, Charlotte Walker, 49, of Calhoun (where our home office is), flagged the deputies down and stated that she and her boyfriend had been drinking and arguing.

Walker’s boyfriend was identified as David W. Hill, 45, of Herrin. Hill happened to be wanted on a warrant out of Williamson County for failure to appear on an original charge of Driving Under the Influence.

Hill was taken to the Saline County Detention Center and charged with Domestic Battery, along with the warrant charges from Williamson County.

There was no evidence, said Saline County Sheriff Keith Brown, that Walker was being held against her will.

Folks notifying us yesterday said that while they were either out on the water in boats, or on the bank of the lake across the way, they could hear people shouting and arguing.

Where the impression that someone was being held against her will…bound…and under a trailer…came from is unknown.
