
WAYNE CO., Ill. - Two Albion residents escaped serious injury in a scary accident this afternoon on Illinois Route 15 in Wayne County.
Illinois State Police in District 19 advise that the two-vehicle wreck happened at approximately 2:40 p.m. this afternoon, Saturday, April 20.
The preliminary traffic crash investigation indicates that the driver of a white 2001 Dodge Ram truck, Steven R. Jackson, 29 of Golden Gate, was northbound on Wayne County Road 2700E, when he failed to yield at the stop intersection with Illinois Route 15.
Jackson proceeded west onto Route 15 and collided with a black 2005 Chrysler 300, driven by Kathleen C. Klug, 52 of Albion, who was also westbound on Illinois Route 15.
Following the impact, Klug’s vehicle left the roadway and came to rest partially submerged in a flooded ditch.
Kathleen Klug, along with her passenger Kacey A. Klug, 25, also of Albion, were transported from the crash scene by ambulance to an area hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.
Citations issued to Jackson included Failure to Yield at a Stop Intersection, Operating a Motor Vehicle using an Electronic Communication Device, and Operating an Uninsured Vehicle.

scene.
