EDWARDS CO., Ill. - People taking out their frustrations on others and catching a battery charge over it, take note: Prosecutors aren't cutting much slack for these infractions in southern Illinois.

Eric St. Ledger, Edwards County State's Attorney, is the latest to enforce this sentiment.

St. Ledger has advised that another batterer is off on a trip to the Illinois Department of Corrections out of his county: Steven A. Earl of Grayville.

Earl, 32, was sentenced today (Tuesday, April 16) to a total of 4 years in IDOC followed by a term of 4 years of Mandatory Supervised Release (formerly known as “parole”) in a case dating back to 2016.

St. Ledger said Earl had previously pled guilty to the offense of Aggravated Domestic Battery and was found to have violated his probation. Judge William Hudson was the sentencing judge.
