ISP District 12 announces March enforcement activity

DISTRICT 12 EFFINGHAM, Ill. - Illinois State Police District 12 Commander, Captain Cory Ristvedt, has announced activity and enforcement figures for the month of March. 

Troopers in District 12, which includes Clark, Clay, Crawford, Cumberland, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Lawrence, Marion, and Richland counties, answered 207 calls for service and initiated 1,819 incidents in the field. 

In addition, enforcement figures totaled 880 citations and 1,064 written warnings, including 466 speeding citations, 10 DUIs, 91 seat belt citations, 18 child restraint citations, 292 written warnings for speeding, and 30 criminal arrests. Troopers also assisted 265 motorists, conducted 301 Motor Carrier Inspections, and investigated 67 traffic crashes. 

There were no fatal traffic crashes investigated by District 12 in March. 

During the year, 611 citations and 387 written warnings were issued for “Fatal Four” violations. These violations are most associated with fatal traffic crashes and include Speeding, DUI, Failure to Wear a Seat Belt, and Distracted Driving.
