CARMI, Ill. - Carmi police reports from earlier this week landed three White Countians in jail...temporarily, anyway.
The booking-then-release occurred following three different traffic stops, with the first being Monday, April 8, when at 2:45 p.m., an officer pulled over a vehicle on the 500 block of Seventh Street because he viewed the driver and knew he was wanted on a misdemeanor Theft warrant out of White County.
The driver was identified as Dustin AG Myers, 23 of a rural Carmi address.
Myers was toted off to the county jail, where he was able to post the requisite bond on the misdemeanor county ($150 cash plus $20 booking fee) and was released with a notice to appear.
Next came a frequent flyer who looks perpetually perplexed in each of his mugshots, perhaps as to why he's being arrested again.
Larry R. Tyree should have figured that one out by now, however.
Tyree, 30, of Sycamore Street in Carmi, was taken into custody Monday at 6:27 p.m. on Fifth Street at the railroad tracks in Carmi, according to the official report.
This particular arrest was on a 2018 multi-count felony in which, while Tyree was charged with a total of five counts, he was able to enter a plea to only two with the rest dismissed: Felony Criminal Damage to Property more than $500 but less than $10,000, and misdemeanor Battery Causing Bodily Harm, dating back to August 30 of last year. Tyree entered a plea in late November. He was apparently put on pay-or-appear upon his plea, with a review set for March 27. With no payments made on the balance of $1,843 in fines and fees, a warrant for his arrest was issued Tuesday. Looking perplexed in his mugshot, Tyree was evidently not as broke as his actions would indicate, as he was apparently able to post the $500 necessary to secure his release (we say "apparently" because he doesn't appear on White County's jail roster. There might have been something we missed, so we'll keep you posted.)
Then on Wednesday, April 10, one traffic stop netted a Norris City gal to the local lockup temporarily.
That'd be Hilary B. Perry, 34, showing a rural NC addy.
Perry was the subject of a traffic stop in Carmi on Church Street at Park Lane early Wednesday morning (12;24 a.m.), initially for revoked registration, according to the police report. This was only a misdemeanor.
However, further examination of the situation turned up another infraction: Operating Uninsured. And somewhere in there, a controlled substance count came in, and she was jailed on a felony Possession of Controlled Substance count...but, not for long. Perry was able to post bond earlier today (April 11) and is now out among the free-but-headed-to-court, her particular date being May 1.
We'll see what shakes out from there. Be watching.
