Clay County Sheriff’s Department activity for late March released

CLAY CO., Ill. - Lots of local folks as well as one guy who traveled all the way over from the western side of the state to catch trouble are featured in this Clay County Sheriff's Department activity report, as provided by Sheriff Andy Myers.

On March 20, a Clay County Sheriff's Deputy arrested Joseph Morris, 27, Cisne, on an outstanding Clay County Contempt warrant. Bond set at $100.00 cash. He posted bond and was released.

March 21, Kohl P. Harrison, 26, Louisville, was arrested on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Driving While Driver's License Suspended. Bond set at $100,000.00 (10 percent), plus $75.00 warrant fee. He is currently incarcerated in the Clay County Jail.

March 21, Tara B. Szarek, 26, Flora, was arrested on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Retail Theft. Bond set at $3,000.00 (10 percent), plus $75.00 warrant fee. She posted bond and was released.

March 22, Clay County Sheriff's Deputy arrested Stormie Britton, 31, Clay City, on an outstanding Clay County Contempt warrant. Bond set at $250.00 cash. She posted bond and was released.

March 22, a Clay County Sheriff's Deputy arrested Christopher S. Britton, 35, Clay City, on an outstanding Clay County Contempt warrant. Bond set at $250.00 cash. He posted bond and was released.

March 23, the Clay County Sheriff's Office was notified of a motor vehicle accident at 6:45 a.m. north of the intersection of U.S. Route 45 and Clover Lane. Apparently Freddie L. Payne, 40, Noble, operating a 1998 Mercury was traveling south on Route 45, lost control of his vehicle, struck a bridge railing, and was ejected from the vehicle. Payne was cited for Operation of
Uninsured Motor Vehicle.

March 23, Clay County Sheriff's Deputy arrested Harry Z. Strange, 31, Flora, on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Driving While Driver's License Revoked. Bond set at $5,000.00 (10 percent), plus $75.00 warrant fee. He posted bond and was released.

March 25, Clay County Sheriff's Deputy arrested Mitchell Gray, 40, Clay City, for Driving While Driver's License Revoked. He posted bond and was released.

March 28, James M. Kessel, 52, Flora, was arrested on an outstanding Clay County Contempt warrant. Bond set at $100.00 cash. He posted bond and was released.

March 29, the Clay County Sheriff's Office was notified of a motor vehicle accident at 4:51 p.m. at a residence on Aspen Lane. Apparently John C. Tanner, 66, Salem, operating a 2016 Buick Lacross was backing from the residence and struck a 2014 Ford Explorer operated by Linda Kennedy, 62, Flora. No injuries reported.

March 30, Clay County Sheriff's Deputy arrested Kristopher K. Blankenship, 39, St. Elmo, for Driving While Driver's License Suspended. He was given a Notice to Appear and released.

March 31, Jeremiah Ellet, 35, Vergennes, Ill., was arrested on an outstanding Franklin County warrant for Petition to Revoke Probation on the original charge of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. Bond set at $5,000.00 (10 percent). He posted bond and was released.

March 31, Christian D. Schreier, 21, Edgewood, was arrested on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Petition to Revoke Probation on the original charge of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance. Bond set at $5,000.00 (10 percent). He is currently incarcerated in the Clay County Jail.
