SALINE CO., Ill. - It seems some crims are destined for self-destruction.
As a general rule, that's usually the outcome for gangbanger wannabe thugs.
Apparently, Idiot Ian Hamilton (hereinafter referred to as "II"), 25 of either Harrisburg or Marion depending on which day it is, has been intent on leaving a long-lasting legacy of criminality for the felonious Gibbs-Hamilton bunch from whose loins he sprang.
Right after we reported his misdemeanor battery charge in Marion (hit this link here) on February 22, II managed to get himself hemmed up in neighboring Saline County a little less than a week later.
Apparently hoping to prove he awl big n bad instead of the little weinie guy he is, II lead Harrisburg police on a brief chase that didn't end well for him, as most brief chases in Harrisburg have a tendency to do when police is trying to bring someone in.
This occurred on February 27, when II was evidently making his usual rounds in Harrisburg and he was spotted by the popo, who took off after him. Court documents show that II blew stop signs at Robinson at McKinley, Lillie at McKinley, and an alleyway on the 00 block of West Ogara. He received traffic citations for these, and a felony Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer.
Then somehow or another, II managed to damage (probably by ramming) a police vehicle, a 2018 Dodge truck 1500 Crew Cab, to the tune of more than $500 but less than $10,000. For that, he received a charge of Criminal Damage to Government Supported Property.
But the big bonus came when authorities were able to take inventory of what II was toting around with him. What they located is followed by what charge he received for it:
A Glock 4.3 9mm handgun, this after having been convicted of a forcible felony (Aggravated Robbery in 2014) - Charges are Armed Habitual Criminal, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon with enhanced sentencing due to prior conviction, and
Cannabis in delivery amounts, more than 500 but less than 2,000 - Unlawful Possession of Cannabis (why delivery wasn't charged is unknown.)
.All of this would explain why II is still locked up at the Saline County Detention Center on a $25,000 bail...and probably why, even though it's been almost a month, Franklin County attorney Paula Newcomb hasn't stepped into the fray (as she usually does; the dope-movers' handlers are the ones who retain her, but most of them are currently in jail, prison, or hiding because their low-men-on-the-totem pole are consistently proving to be incompetent...hence this article). Instead, lil II is currently being represented by public defender Lowell Tison, who has, probably in all futility, recently asked for the bail to be lowered to $12,500.
II has been set for a prelim on March 28, so we'll know next week whether a Saline County judge is going to make the same mistake that was made two years ago when II's equally-idiot brother, the bizarrely-spelled Xzavier Gibbs, 21, kept making bond and getting in trouble.
As mentioned in the last II article, his little brother, Aries Gibbs, was supposed to have gone to trial at the end of February. Of course, that's not happened yet, and the 17-year-old is now set for a jury trial April 24.
Be watching as we bring updates.
