
EFFINGHAM, Ill. - A young man from New Jersey was sent to the hospital in Effingham after running off the interstate in an incident that also got him cited.
Illinois State Police in District 12 Effingham report that the single-vehicle accident occurred this morning (Friday, March 22) at 8:03 a.m.
The preliminary investigative details indicate that a black Honda Accord being driven by Aristeide Fafalios, 33, of Hammonton, New Jersey, was westbound on I-70 near milepost 125.
Fafalios lost control of the vehicle and ran off the roadway to the right, striking the trees in the fence line.
He was taken to St. Anthony's Hospital in Effingham with unspecified injuries, and subsequently was cited for Driving Too Fast for Conditions and Improper Lane Use.
