
GALLATIN CO., Ill. - A man from Eldorado was taken to an out-of-state hospital after an incident involving two vehicles and venison on the hoof.
Illinois State Police in District 19 worked the incident, which occurred yesterday (Friday, March 1) at 6:24 p.m. on Illinois Route 141, a quarter mile east of Awalt Lane in Gallatin County.
According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, a white 2015 Toyota Camry being driven by Philip Drone, 55 of Eldorado, was traveling west on 141. A maroon 1994 Ford F-350 being driven by Richard E. Brock, 56 of Mt. Vernon, Ind., was traveling east at the same location.
Drone swerved into the eastbound lane to avoid striking a deer.
His Toyota struck the deer and then struck the Ford truck head-on.
Drone was transported to an out-of-state hospital. There is no word on his condition, nor on any injuries Brock may have sustained. Drone was cited for Failure to Wear Seatbelt. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
