RICHLAND CO., Ill. - Harvey the Jumping Shrimp will now be doing all his jumping behind federal bars.

Harvey L. Ireland, the meth slinger who earned the nickname "The Jumping Shrimp" way back in 2007 when he was teamed up with the Acord bunch in Olney because his substance-fueled actions prompted folks to opine that he was like the jumpy shrimp in Disney's "Little Mermaid" cartoon, is off to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Ireland, 35, of Olney, has been sentenced to 188 months in federal prison and five years of supervised release for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine, Steven D. Weinhoeft, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced today (Wednesday, February 13).

Ireland previously pleaded guilty to a one-count federal indictment that also named two co-defendants: Justin R. Mason, 35, and Brianna N. Bare, 26, both also residents of Olney. Bare was sentenced on December 27, 2018, to 87 months imprisonment and three years of supervised release. Mason was sentenced on January 22, 2019, to 262 months imprisonment and five years of supervised release.
The charged conspiracy took place from August 2017 to March 2018, in Richland County and elsewhere, and involved 50 grams or more of methamphetamine (Ice), or 500 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing methamphetamine
The investigation in this case was conducted by the Richland County Sheriff's Office.
