WAYNE CO., Ill. - Jazmine McClane is likely going to be hailed a hero for not running over a feline on the highway, even if it meant she ended up with a wrecked car.

Illinois State Police in District 19 advise that the single-vehicle traffic crash occurred today (Tuesday, February 5) at 12:15 p.m.

ISP said that McClane, 18 of Cisne, was operating a black 2010 Dodge Avenger southbound on U.S. Route 45 approximately a quarter-mile north of Wayne County Road 2000N at that time.

She advised troopers that she swerved off the roadway to the right to avoid striking a cat. The vehicle then struck a guardrail, which caused major front end damage.

McClane incurred minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital by ambulance; the Avenger was towed from the scene. ISP was assisted at the crash scene by the Cisne Fire Department, North Wayne Ambulance and Headlee's Towing.

There was no word on the condition of the cat.
