CARMI, Ill. - It's sad that the terms "dimwit" and "donut" must be used in the same article, but here we are.
That's about the most accurate description of events in the case of a 28-year-old Salem man who was arrested in Carmi for inexplicably behaving like a 15-year-old just learning to drive, this on Sunday, January 20.
Carmi City Police responded to the parking lot of Walmart on the city's southwest edge at 7:49 p.m. where they finally caught up with William Scott South, the 28-year-old in question. This was, according to the provided police report, after a prolonged investigation into a silver Jeep doing donuts on the parking lot there...in the snow and ice.
South, of Salem up in Marion County, was arrested on a charge of Reckless Conduct and was processed at the city/county jail in Carmi. He was able to post $150 cash bond to secure his release.
