WHITE CO., Ill. - White County Sheriff Doug Maier has released information about the report of a body lying on the ground on the Interstate 64 westbound ramp south of Grayville in north White County.

Maier said that at approximately 8:22 a.m. this morning (Saturday, January 19, 2019), White County Dispatch received the call from a motorist, who had observed the body on the ground next to a vehicle.

Officers arrived to observe a Ford F150 pickup parked along the on-ramp and a male subject laying on the ground on the passenger side of the vehicle. The man, Maier said, had an obvious gunshot wound to the head and was deceased.

Illinois State Police Crime Scene Techs were notified and responded to the scene, and the westbound on-ramp was closed at that point.

When removing the body, a Glock 9mm handgun was located underneath.

The man was identified as Glenn H. Norris, 60, of Deputy, Indiana.

Maier said this is an apparent suicide, but the investigation is ongoing. Maier said his office received assistance at the scene from the White County Coroner, White County Ambulance, Grayville Police Department, and the Illinois State Police.
