
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - On January 7, 2019, Special Agents from the Central Illinois Enforcement Group (CIEG), responded to Interstate 72 near Jacksonville, Illinois, after a large amount of cannabis was discovered
during a traffic stop by an Illinois State Police (ISP) District 9 Trooper.
As a result of the traffic stop, CIEG Agents seized approximately 313 pounds of raw medical grade cannabis, 900 cannabis vaping cartridges, cannabis butter, and two vehicles.
Arrested were Jessica A. Bennett, 43, of Seal Rock Oregon, and William E. Irons, 59 of Everett, Washington. Bennett and Irons were incarcerated at
the Morgan County Detention Facility on Class X felonies. The estimated street value of the seized narcotics is $662,000.
CIEG is a multi-jurisdictional narcotics task force which has served the
District 9 area since 1986. CIEG is comprised of Officers from the ISP,
Christian County Sheriff?s Office, Pana Police Department, Springfield
Police Department, Lincoln Police Department, Morgan County Sheriff?s
Office, Jacksonville Police Department, Athens Police Department, and the
Taylorville Police Department.
