WILLIAMSON CO., Ill. - Williamson County State's Attorney Brandon Zanotti has been busy with sentencing of convicts in his county, including the following.
Zanotti said that on January 4, 2019, a Williamson County judge sentenced Bernard Cole, 35, of Marion to three years in the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) for a 2014 Unlawful Drug Delivery charge, a Class 2 felony, and three years in DOC for a 2015 Theft charge, a Class 3 felony. The judge ordered the sentences to run concurrently.
Cole was charged for the drug offense after making a sale to a confidential informant. He was charged with the theft offense after misrepresenting himself as a landlord and fraudulently taking money from a would-be tenant. Cole was ordered to pay restitution to the victims in that case. Cole will be under two years mandatory supervised release following his release from DOC.
“This was great work done by the Southern Illinois Enforcement Group and Marion Police Department," Zanotti said. "Cole is clearly a problem in the community and his sentence to DOC is a step in the right direction.”
