WHITE CO., Ill. - Someone has damaged a Scates Farms grain bin as well as several bushels of soybeans.
Not that the genetically-modified legumes are good for much of anything, but the government continues to pay people to grow them, and so when 4,000 bushels are damaged deliberately, that's cause for an incident report and a call to the public for assistance in finding out who the culprit is.
White County Sheriff's officials reported that on Monday, December 31, at approximately 4:10 p.m., Deputy Randy Graves spoke to Jeffrey Scates in reference to a Criminal Damage to Property report.
Scates advised that grain bins owned by Pat Scates and Son Farms had been damaged, likely between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. that day. Someone had entered upon the property, located at 141 and Herald Road in the rural New Haven area, and it appeared the damage was done by a semi. The damage consisted of someone hitting a grain spout on the small ground hopper grain bin. The grain spout was damaged, along with approximately 4,000 bushel of beans that got wet.
