CARMI, Ill. - A traffic stop just before midnight last night lead to the discovery of quite a few pills allegedly in the possession of a Carmi woman.

Authorities report this morning that the incident arose last night (Tuesday, December 18) at 11:55 p.m. when a vehicle was pulled over at Smith and Hillsdale streets.

Apparently the officer was aware that Tamala Buchanan, 52, of West Sycamore in Carmi, didn't have a valid driver's license (for more than a year, according to the report) and she was pulled over on that basis. She was taken to the city/county jail for booking.

However, once there, jail staff discovered five Schedule 4 pills loose inside her purse which turned out to be Alprazolam, and she received an additional charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance.

She's currently being held at the city/county jail pending appearance.
