MARION, Ill. - A Marion woman received a scare early Saturday, December 16, and is urging others to use caution if they find themselves in a similar situation.
It's being reported that Saturday, around 2 a.m., this woman (who shall remain unnamed for now, and for her own protection), decided to go out and grab a sandwich and drink.
On her way home she noticed a parked car and thought nothing of it. After a couple of blocks, she looked up and the car was behind her. She continued on, however, and made a couple of turns into the subdivision where she lived. After each turn, the car was still there and they were flashing their lights and blowing their horn trying to get her to stop.
Instead of pulling into her garage, she called 911 and went around the cul de sac. The police located the car and pulled it over.
The occupants tell police the woman threw something out of her car and busted their window with it (there was, apparently, a broken window on their vehicle). So the police make contact with the woman and she tells them there was no broken window that she saw.
Police told her they believed her and it appeared to be an inside job as regards the complaining occupant of the vehicle with the broken window. The woman (now considered the victim in the situation) says the car was a white 4-door and possibly a Dodge Neon or Stratus with three or four people in the car.
Authorities have advised folks to please be aware of their surroundings. This might be a new scam to get someone to fix a broken window, but you never know what can happen.
