EFFINGHAM CO., Ill. - A two-vehicle collision yesterday afternoon between a semi and a pickup truck sent the truck's driver - a woman from Colorado - out by helicopter to a St. Louis hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Illinois State Police report that the wreck occurred at 1:13 p.m. yesterday, Wednesday, November 14.
ISP said the preliminary investigative details indicate that a silver Chevy pickup being driven by Arbra Dorsey, 66, of Pueblo, Colorado, and a white Volvo semi-tractor being driven by Dan Goran, 23, of Orlando, Florida, were eastbound on Interstate 70 near milepost 87, the National Trail rest area.
Dorsey changed from the left lane into the right lane and slowed down rapidly. The semi struck her truck in the rear. This caused the truck to leave the roadway to the right, striking a tree. The semi crossed the median and stopped partially in the westbound lanes.
Dorsey was transported by helicopter to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis with unspecified injuries; Goran was uninjured.
Dorsey has been cited for Improper Lane Use.
