FLORA, Ill. - Flora City Police Chief John Nicholson has issued his departmental activity report for the first half of November, and it shows it's been a busy month so far.
November 1
Activity on November 1 begins with a 2:30 p.m. traffic citation for a Richland County woman. Jessica L Thomas, of Olney, was issued a citation for Speeding.
At 3:23 p.m., Flora Police investigated an accident in the 500 block of E Second St. involving a 2008 Ford Focus operated by Julie Applegate of Flora and a 2013 Chevrolet operated by McKenzie Hower of Flora. No injuries reported and no citations issued.
Then at 10:34 p.m., Flora Police investigated an accident at Vincennes and S. Stanford Road involving a 2009 Ford, driving by Joshua L Siddens of Flora, and a 2010 Chrysler driven by Janice Schofield of Flora. No injuries reported and no citations were issued.
November 2
The singular incident on Nov. 2 was a car-deer. This was reported at 8:24 p.m.; Flora Police investigated an accident at Hwy 45/50 just west of N Stanford Road involving a 2017 Ford Explorer driven by Lisa Cash of Clay City, which had struck a deer. There were no injuries and no citations issued; Cash’s vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
November 3
A number of incidents took up FPD's time on November 3.
At 1:05 a.m., Brock A. Giddens was arrested in 1400 block of N State St. for driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and failure to signal turn. Giddens was given his citations and was transported to a friend's home.
At 6:23 a.m. Flora Police investigated an accident in the 13000 block of Hwy 50, involving a 2017 Dodge Durango driven by Amber McGee of Flora and a deer. There were no injuries and no citations issued; McGee’s vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
At 6:51 p.m., Bryan W. Williams of Flora was arrested on a Clay County warrant for failure to appear on the original charge of possession of methamphetamine and possession of hypo/syringe/needles. Williams was also charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Clay County Sheriff’s Department
At that same time (6:51 p.m.) Charles M. Hancock of Flora was also arrested on unlawful possession of a controlled substance. He was given a notice to appear and was released.
November 9
On Nov. 9 at 6:15 p.m., Autumn C. Mathews was arrested by the Flora Police Department on an outstanding Clay County Warrant for a contempt of court, Fighting. Mathews posted bond and was released.
November 11
On Nov. 11 at 9:34 p.m., Gerald E. Baker was issued citations for failure to signal when required, operating uninsured vehicle and fleeing or attempting to allude a peace officer. Baker was issued a notice to appear on the above charges and was released with a court date.
November 13
Then on Nov. 13 at 8:00 p.m., Brandon T. Ray was issued citation for speeding in the 800 blk.
