CRAWFORD CO., Ill. - A Robinson man apparently wrecked his Halloween after allegedly showing up at a holiday event he was prohibited from attending because he's a registered sex offender.

Authorities in Crawford County said that Steven Randall Arthur, 59, of a rural Robinson address, was taken into custody October 27, charged with Unlawful Participation in a Holiday Event by a Sex Offender.

Apparently, the arrest was made by Oblong Police, so this was likely at a location in Oblong, although information released by authorities doesn't specifically indicate what.

The recent "holiday" (which began as All Hallow's Eve but has been turned into gruesome, repulsive costuming and idiocy all in the name of 'having fun') has caused all kinds of uproar over how to keep the ever-increasing number of sex offenders away from children during parties at public places and house-to-house "trick or treating," when all that needs to be done is simply end observance of the "holiday," but far be it from anyone to suggest such a simple solution.

Arthur's sex offense dates back to a 2004 conviction which apparently took 11 years to bring to justice, as online records show it was actually filed in 1993.

There's been no court date set for him as yet on the current charge, which is a Class 4 felony and likely won't get him put into prison.
