CARMI, Ill. - An incident early this morning involving an altercation near the American Legion in Carmi got a Carmi man jailed on a driving infraction.
Carmi police report that they stopped a vehicle on Oak Street at Burrell in town at 12:09 this morning, Thursday, October 25. Behind the wheel they found Alton A. Folz, 22, who had been reported to have been in an altercation in the area of the Secretary of State building and the American Legion building on Oak.
That apparently wasn't part of the arrest, however; instead, Folz was taken in for Driving While License Suspended. He was toted off to jail, where he was able to post the requisite bond to secure his release.
Earlier Wednesday, Carmi police had an active warrant service.
This involved Erin Warrner, 37, of rural Carmi, who was known to have an active White County warrant for Failure to Appear on a Retail Theft charge. Warrner was located at a vacant lot on 612 Shipley Street; a subsequent search enhanced her problems, however, when it turned up alleged illegal items: Meth and a hypodermic syringe.
Warrner was taken to the county jail on not only the warrant, but the arresting charges of Possession of Meth, Possession of Hypodermic Syringe, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She remained locked up as of Thursday afternoon.
