JASPER CO.—Jasper County authorities have issued information on an incident that occurred last night (Thursday, July 18) at the Old Mill Bridge on Newton’s north side.
At approximately 8:45 p.m. last night, Jasper County 911 received a report of a UTV (side-by-side all terrain vehicle) accident on the north side of the Old Mill Bridge.
Originally, it was believed there was one female injured and an ambulance was dispatched, as well as a deputy. The accident took place on the north side of the river, but the female patient was going to walk to the south side of the river (in Newton city limits.) Upon further information, a second ambulance was dispatched for a male patient on the north side of the river.
Upon arrival of EMS personnel, ARCH Air Ambulance was launched from Effingham to transport the female patient suffering from an altered mental status to Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Jasper County EMS transported the male patient to Richland Memorial Hospital, Olney.
Both are not believed to be life-threatening injuries.
Jasper County Sheriff’s Department, Newton Police Department, Illinois State Police, Jasper County Ambulance Service, ARCH Air Medical, and Jasper County EMA were all involved in this situation. No names are being released at this time.
