CRAWFORD CO.—A staging of a number of law enforcement officials in what’s been described as riot gear at Casey’s in Palestine (east Crawford County) was reported earlier this afternoon, and as bystanders watched, a man was taken out of a home on the 300 block of West Grand Prairie in that town shortly thereafter.
As a bit of clarification, witnesses are now advising Disclosure that the described “riot gear” was nothing more than tactical vests for officer safety…but it freaked a lot of people out, nevertheless.
All we know for certain right now is that it appeared city, county and state police were decked out in SWAT uniforms and heavily armed as they surrounded the house…and that ultimately, and ambulance was called to the scene for a suspect, after a K9 unit took him down.
The man was reported to have sustained bite marks on his left arm and left leg.
Our sources in the area are telling us this may have been an interstate operation, involving U.S. Marshals, and that Evansville authorities had this man on a Top 10 Most Wanted list on suspicion of some kind of drug violent crime activity; this, however, has not been confirmed by officials.
We have messages out to law enforcement there, and have yet to hear back from them; when we learn exactly what this was, we’ll post it. Keep checking back.
