BRIDGEPORT—Anyone who thinks former mayor Max Schauf’s influence has gone the way of his credibility after his conviction on federal money laundering charges doesn’t know Max.
Here’s the latest in his efforts to keep his hand in what’s going on in the city, even though come early August, his ass is probably going to be sitting in the federal penitentiary system:
Now if anyone existing on this earth believes Bev Preusz (Schauf’s girlfriend) and Connie Schauf White (Schauf’s increasingly-more-insane sister) actually “own” this structure, they need a swift mental evaluation…or at least a good education as to how things go around Max.
Schauf has repeatedly used other people in order to enrich himself, just like he did within the city that got him into trouble with the feds. He puts ownership of things in other peoples’ names, and then “works” there (just like he did with Preusz at the “Red Hill Veterans’ Club,” a place where much of his illicit activity with the city got him found out). This way, he gets his capital investment kickback, as well as a paycheck. Capitalism is one thing; greed is quite another.
A big city council meeting held this past week in Bridgeport hashed a lot of it out…but Max’ name was kept hush-hush. The nauseating way this man still exerts his influence on the town is enough to send a crew to the meetings to find out what’s going on…and that’s exactly what we did in this case. We have the full story on this latest Max bullshit, complete with threats of a lawsuit emerging from the whole thing, in the next issue, which will be available by e-Edition Monday evening, July 21…and on stands Tuesday, July 22.
