MARION CO., Ill. - An Irvington motorcyclist has been cited for DUI following a crash with ejection last night on U.S. 51.
Illinois State Police in District 12 Effingham said the single-vehicle incident occurred at 9:50 p.m. last night (Saturday, September 22) on the north edge of Central City.
Preliminary investigative details, ISP said, indicate that a blue 1999 Harley Davidson being operated by David R. Hesse, 54, of Irvington, was southbound on 51 entering Central City where 51 divides into southbound (North Commercial) and northbound (North Broadway) lanes of traffic, divided by a city block.
The bike struck the dividing median barrier, lay onto its side, and slid, coming to rest on the sidewalk.
Hesse was ejected from the bike; he was transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia. He was subsequently cited for Improper Lane Usage and DUI-Alcohol.
