CARMI, Ill. - I know, I know...avoid alliteration always; it's about as bad as rhyming in those God-awful TV commercials advertising the off-brand products.
However, I just couldn't hep m'self. Because it's so accurate.
Carmi city police had a couple of calls yesterday, Thursday, September 20, that show that not only the local constabulary, but the citizens also have a bead on the perpetual offenders, including the one that came about at around 2:15 p.m. at the location of the Steven Street Apartments.
There, police found 23-year-old Austin J. O'Dell of an address on Elm Street in town, who happened to be wanted on a White County warrant for misdemeanor Theft.
O'Dell was transported to the city/county jail where he was able to post the nominal bond on the matter and walk away with a court date.
Next came the one nabbed at Dollar General on West Main at a little before 3 p.m.
That was when one Holly Jo Miller, 31 of Enfield, was arrested for attempting to steal several items.
Miller was confronted by store employees and handed over some of the items (which were not listed in the report) to the manager. However, after being placed under arrest, more stolen items were located in Miller's purse.
So authorities searched Miller and found - in the ubiquitous right front pocket of her pants - the ubiquitous baggy containing a crystalized white substance, which of course field-tested positive for meth.
So Miller was charged not only with Retail Theft but also Possession of Meth, and was toted off to the city/county lockup. He was able to post bond to secure his release.
