CLAY COUNTY: Warrant services, wrecks and citations fill Sheriff’s dept. blotter

CLAY CO., Ill. - Sheriff Andy Myers in Clay County has submitted the department's activity report for the second week in September and it takes us right up to today, Tuesday, September 18, so let's get started!

Sept. 11, Clay County Sheriff's Deputy cited Elliot Atherton, 48, Noble, for Operation of Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Operating with Expired Registration. He was given a Notice to Appear and released. 

Sept. 12, the Clay County Sheriff's Office was notified of a motor vehicle accident at 7:25 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. Route 45 and Cheetah Lane. Apparently a 17-year-old female operating a 2004 Chevrolet, was travelling north on U.S. Route 45, slowing to stop, when she was struck by a 2005 Buick van operated by Charlie E. Newman, 33, Sailor Springs. Minor injuries reported. Newman was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.

Sept. 12, Wade A. Webster, 25, Edgewood, was arrested on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Residential Burglary. Bond set at $3,000.00 (10 percent), plus $75.00 warrant fee. He posted bond and was released.

Sept. 16, Kendra D. Lemond, 27, Fairfield, was arrested on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Leaving the Scene of an Accident. Bond set at $3,000.00 (10 percent), plus $75.00 warrant fee. She is currently incarcerated in the Clay County Jail.

Sept. 16, Clay County Sheriff's Deputy cited Stacy Byers, 35, Mason, for Operation of Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Speeding. She was given a Notice to Appear and released.

Sept. 17, the Clay County Sheriff's Office was notified of a motor vehicle accident at 7:25 a.m. south of the intersection of U.S. Route 45 and Nighthawk. Apparently Morgan J. Guinn, 18, Effingham, operating a 2004 Jeep Liberty was travelling north on U.S. Route 45, lost control of the vehicle and entered a field. Guinn was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.

Sept. 18, Clay County Sheriff's Deputy arrested Cyndi Willhoite, 24, Salem, on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Speeding. Bond set at $3,000.00 (10 percent), plus $75.00 warrant fee. She posted bond and was released.
