DISTRICT 12 - Illinois State Police District 12 Commander, Captain Cory Ristvedt, has announced activity and enforcement figures for the month of August.
Troopers in District 12, which includes Clark, Clay, Crawford, Cumberland, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Lawrence, Marion, and Richland counties, answered 179 calls for service and initiated 1,494 incidents in the field.
In addition, enforcement figures totaled 747 citations and 743 written warnings, including 415 speeding citations, 9 DUIs, 91 seat belt citations, 4 child restraint citations, 229 written warnings for speeding, and 14 criminal arrests. Troopers also assisted 256 motorists, conducted 211 Motor Carrier Inspections, and investigated 63 traffic crashes.
There were 2 fatal traffic crash investigated by District 12 in August. During the month, 545 citations and 312 written warnings were issued for "Fatal Four" violations. These violations are most associated with fatal traffic crashes and include Speeding, DUI, Failure to Wear a Seat Belt, and Distracted Driving.
