WHITE CO., Ill. - A man from Evansville apparently traveled all the way to White County, Illinois, this past April to avail himself of merchandise at a retail establishment...and now he's paying for it with a couple of years in prison.

That's the word from White County State's Attorney Denton Aud, to said that James R. Lowe, 38, of Evansville, Ind., was sentenced today in White County Circuit Court in Carmi.

Lowe, whose arrest came about in late April of this year, entered a plea to one of his multiple charges related to the offense - Retail Theft, and Class 2 felony. In exchange, he received a sentence of three years in Illinois Department of Corrections, to be followed by two years of parole.

Charges of Class 3 felony Theft and Retail Theft, both of them involving Lowe leaving through an emergency exit of whatever store he was ripping off (information provided by Aud doesn't say where this was), were dismissed in exchange for the plea in the Class 2 felony. Lowe was also ordered to pay $1,404.39 in fines and fees, $847.39 of that being restitution, most of which, if things hold true to form, White County will never see a dime of.

Carmi Police was the investigating agency.
