EFFINGHAM CO., Ill. - Illinois State Police report that hydroplaning was the cause of a single-vehicle wreck yesterday that sent a Mattoon man to St. Anthony's in Effingham.
ISP advise that the wreck occurred at 12:12 p.m. yesterday, Saturday, September 8.
Preliminary investigative details indicate that a black 2016 Jeep SUV being driven by Michael M. Heller, 26, of Mattoon, was southbound on 57 near milepost 154 five miles south of Effingham when the vehicle hydroplaned and traveled into the center median.
When the vehicle got onto the median, this caused it to overturn.
ISP said Abbott EMS transported Heller to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment of unspecified injuries.
No citations have been issued.
