EFFINGHAM CO., Ill. - The wreck that closed through traffic for several hours yesterday afternoon proved fatal for one of two vehicles involved: A motorcyclist from Highland Park, Illinois.
Illinois State Police in District 12 Effingham report that the accident occurred at 1:22 p.m. yesterday afternoon, Friday, September 7.
Preliminary investigative details indicates that a yellow Honda motorcycle being operated by Zachary Cohen, 20, of Highland Park, was north bound on Dieterich Blacktop two miles south of the village of Montrose in Effingham County.
ISP reports that Cohen lost control and slid into the path of an oncoming red International truck-tractor being driven by Brandon Barnes, 30, of Mattoon.
Cohen was pronounced deceased at the scene. Barnes was transported to St. Anthony's Hospital in Effingham with unspecified injuries; ISP didn't indicate how the International wrecked following the collision.
