MARION CO.— A Centralia woman has taken to an area hospital after authorities say she was injured in a read-end collision.
According to reports at 9:13 a.m. on Ill. 161, .01 miles west of Schwartz Road, three miles east of Centralia, Cheryl Neilson, 30, of Centralia, operating a 200, silver Mercury Grand Marquis, was eastbound and slowing to stop due to traffic in front of her vehicle when Elijah Koch, 19, of Mt. Vernon, driving a 2002, black, Chevy truck, failed to slow down and struck the rear of Neilson’s vehicle.
Neilson was transported from the scene to St. Mary’s Hospital by ambulance for treatment of her injuries.
Koch was issued a citation for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
