CARMI, Ill. - Some people just don't know how to tote their (alleged) illicit substances.
Chief among the lists of what NOT to do if you feel compelled to have alleged illicit items with you would be to: NOT be driving on expired plates; NOT having switched said plates from another vehicle and putting them on the one you're in; and NOT doing anything otherwise that would get the attention of the local constabulary.
But all of this was apparently beyond the ability of the two who were arrested in Carmi very early this morning (at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, September 4).
The officer is reported to have stopped a blue Dodge Caravan on Oak Street at Commerce Street because the tags on the plates were expired...and when he ran the plates, turns out they belonged to another vehicle.

So after the driver - Kristin Mae Brown, 35, of Carmi - was arrested for Unlawful Use of Registration, a tow inventory revealed a cannabis pipe in her bag...and a further search yielded an additional pipe and two meth pipes along with a small amount of meth product in them.
So Brown and her front-seat passenger, Daniel Desper, 26 of rural Carmi, were both arrested and housed at the city/county jail, where they remained as of this evening.
