FLORA: Active city police report and a kid doomed with a weird name

FLORA, Ill. – Other than people giving their kid a bizarre name a couple of decades ago (see if you can spot it), it’s a rather routine Flora City Police report for the last week of August…but it’s a big one.

Thursday, August 23 at 7:26 pm, Katie Sebring, 34, of Flora was issued a citation for Improper Operation of ATV or Off-Highway Motorcycle, following an incident on West Washington Street.

Saturday, August 25 at 11:10 pm, Flora Police arrested James T. Lewis, 23, of Rinard for Driving While License Suspended, following a traffic stop in the 100 block of East North Avenue. Lewis was taken to Flora Police Department for booking and released with a Notice to Appear.

Sunday, August 26 at 10:30 pm, Flora Police arrested Elijah McKnelly, 24, of Flora for a Failure to Appear Warrant out of Fayette County. McKnelly was unable to post bond and was transported to Clay County Jail.

Tuesday, August 28 at 2:26 pm, Flora Police investigated an accident in the 1400 block of North Worthey Street, involving a 2010 Chevy driven by Kelly Gouchenour, 41, of Wayne City and a 2016 Chrysler operated by Jazzolin Trinkle, 25, of Xenia. Gouchenour was cited for Operating Uninsured Vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Tuesday, August 28 at 8:05 pm, Flora Police arrested Michael McCormick, 56, of Flora on a Clay County Warrant for Domestic Battery. McCormick was taken to Flora Police Department for booking procedures, where he posted bond and was released with a Notice to Appear.

Wednesday, August 29 at 8:53 pm, Lisa Welch, 53, of Clay City was issued a citation for Operating Uninsured Vehicle following a traffic stop on US RT 45/50.

Friday, August 31 at 7:18 pm, Flora Police arrested Phillip B. Henson, 48, of Urbana on a Moultrie County Failure to Appear Warrant. Once at Flora Police Department, Henson was unable to post the necessary cash bond and was transferred to Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

Friday, August 31 at 9:49 pm, Cody Mix, 20, of Iuka was issued a Local Ordinance Citation for Fighting, following an incident in the 200 block of Given Street.

Saturday, September 1 at 6:08 pm, Flora Police arrested Don Propes, 47, of Flora on a Clay County Warrant for Failure to Appear, following a traffic stop in the 300 block of Valbert Street. Propes was also issued a Citation for Illegal Transportation of Alcohol by Passenger. Once at Flora Police Department, Propes could not post the necessary bond and was transported to Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

Sunday, September 2 at 1:13 am, Flora Police arrested Teddy Young, 49, of Louisville for DUI and Driving in Wrong Lane, following a traffic stop on US Rt 45/50. Young underwent booking procedures at Flora Police Department and was released with a Notice to Appear.

Sunday, September 2 at 10:59 pm, Flora Police arrested Holly Cammon, 36, of Flora on an Effingham County Contempt Warrant, following a traffic stop in the 1200 block of North Worthey Street. Cammon was transported to Flora Police Department where she posted the necessary cash bond and was released.
