CARMI, Ill. - A Marion man wanted on local warrants and yet another domestic battery kept Carmi city police busy Tuesday and on into this morning, according to information submitted by Chief Jason Carter.
The Marion man in question is Harold D. Littlefield, 56, who was featured in this article that appeared a week ago, when Littlefield was able to elude police after they spotted him in Carmi.
Yesterday (August 14), they found him - at the home of local meth felon Jerry Lamont, this on Maple Street in town, at about 9:05 a.m.
Littlefield was arrested on the secondary warrant of Aggravated Fleeing and Resisting, which he caught during the Aug. 7 incident, then he was additionally charged with Unlawful Use of Property, Possession of Meth and Possession of Paraphernalia, these after a search of his vehicle was conducted.
Not surprisingly (considering the allegations, charges, and at whose residence he was located), Littlefield was able to post bond of $8,000 cash along with a booking fee, and he was sent on his way with a pending court date.
CPD also dealt with another Domestic Battery situation after having handled one the day before.
This one emerged from local problem children Crystal Boaz and Dustin Acord, both of whom were arrested.
Late Tuesday morning (a couple of minutes before 11 a.m.), folks called Carmi police to report a fight in progress between a male and female. The caller advised that the pair were yelling and cursing and the male threw the female to the ground before attempting to choke her.
When cops arrived the found the female (Boaz, age 37) unwilling to provide any information or sign a complaint against the male (Acord, 36, both of them from Carmi). So the two were charged with Disorderly Conduct and Acord was charged with Domestic Battery.
However, a search of Boaz' backpack turned up a wooden box with cannabis inside, so she was additionally cited for Possession of Cannabis and Possession of Paraphernalia. Apparently she was able to post bond; Acord remained jailed as of this afternoon.
An ongoing feud between a former Carmi couple boiled over last night (at about 9:30 p.m.) when authorities were called to a residence on the 800 block of North Fifth Street in Carmi.
There, they found Jedediah Burnett, 40, at the residence of an ex, Emily Madden, 27...with Burnett having an OP against him as obtained by Ms. Madden.
Burnett was arrested for OP Violation and remained behind bars as of at least earlier this afternoon.
Then a traffic stop early this morning was effected on Main Street at Haley Drive, occurring at a little after midnight this morning, Wednesday, August 15. Shana L. Axton, 35, of Evansville, was arrested for Driving While License Suspended following a traffic stop at that location.
She remained locked up at the White County Jail as of this afternoon.
