MARION CO., Ill. - A juvenile male driver from Iuka has been cited after an accident this morning that sent another driver to the hospital in Salem.
Illinois State Police said the two-vehicle collision occurred at 10:34 a.m. this morning, Tuesday, August 14.
ISP said preliminary investigation showed that a silver 2011 Dodge Caliber being driven by the male, age 17 (and prohibited from identification by ISP because he's a juvenile, although if we had the name, we could publish it), was at the stop intersection of Matcalf Road and U.S. 50 facing northbound.
A black 2008 Chevrolet Impala being driven by Sarah Combs, 50, also of Iuka, was approaching the through intersection of 50 and Metcalf Road traveling eastbound.
The Dodge Caliber proceeded into the intersection as Combs' Impala occupied it. The Impala struck the Caliber in the intersection of 50 and Metcalf Road.
The male juvenile was cited for Disobeying Stop Sign; Combs was transported to Salem Township Hospital by Marion County Ambulance.
