Wendi Owen

WHITE CO., ill. - The remainder of Wendi Owen’s cases was finalized Wednesday (August 8) with some additional time added on to her previously imposed sentence, reports White County prosecutor Denton Aud..

Owen, who is 46 and from Grayville, pled guilty to the following offenses:

Aggravated Assault, Class 4 felony
Aiding a Fugitive, Class 4 felony
Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude, Class 4 felony

Owen was sentenced to concurrent sentences to the Illinois Department of Corrections of 2.5 years on each offense with 1 year of mandatory supervised release. The standard sentencing range for a Class 4 felony is 1-3 years. As the offenses occurred at the same time, they are to run concurrent. She was also ordered to pay the Grayville Police Department $500 in restitution. Nevertheless, her sentence in this case must be served consecutively to the previously imposed sentence of 7.5 years meaning that she has a total sentence between the cases of 10 years with 1 year of mandatory supervised release.

Grayville Police Department, with the assistance of White County Sheriff Doug Maier's department, participated in the arrest of Owen. Attorney Bill Hoffeditz represented Owen. Judge T. Scott Webb was the sentencing judge.

“Because of Ms. Owen’s poor decisions leading to her arrest in this case, we were able to obtain a lengthy sentence of 10 years between all of her matters where the range was between 3-16 years," Aud said. "I commend the efforts of Officer Mike Brown, Officer Gilbert Santos, Grayville Chief Roy Mann, Sheriff Doug Maier and his deputies, and all other law enforcement entities that have assisted in these matters."
