FAYETTE CO., Ill. - A single-vehicle accident involving axle failure on a truck pulling a trailer sent two Ramsey residents to a local hospital last night.
Illinois State Police said the accident occurred at 5:52 p.m. yesterday, Wednesday, July 18.
Preliminary investigative details indicate that a white 2005 Ford Ranger pickup being driven by Roy E. Eller, 70, of Ramsey, was towing a small utility trailer southbound on Route 51 just north of Fayette County Road 2900N. With him was Alice F. Eller, 70, also of Ramsey.
Near that county road location, the Ford had a rear axle failure, left the roadway, and struck the ditch embankment.
The vehicle came to rest just inside the wood line on the east side of Route 51.
Both Ellers were transported to Pana Community Hospital; no citations were issued.
