CLARK CO., Ill. - A car-versus-motorcycle collision sent the bike rider to a Terre Haute hospital earlier this afternoon, reports Illinois State Police.
ISP worked the 1:47 p.m. accident today (Sunday, July 15), which occurred at the intersection of U.S. 40 at Tarble Road, on the east end of Marshall in Clark County.
Preliminary investigative details indicate that a 2006 white Toyota SUV being driven by Jordan R. Hargis, 24, of Dennison, was northbound in the process of crossing U.S. 40 from East National Road at a stop sign intersection. A 2010 KAWA motorcycle being operated by Patrick H. Sowers, 50, of Casey, was eastbound on 40 at the same intersection.
ISP said that without yielding, the Toyota entered the intersection and was struck in the driver's side by the motorcycle. Both vehicles came to rest on U.S. 40 at East National Road.
Sowers was transported by ambulance to Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana; Hargis was cited for Failure to Yield at Stop Intersection.
