JEFFERSON CO., Ill. - Authorities in multiple counties surrounding Jefferson in central downstate Illinois are on alert for a runaway from a facility in Mt. Vernon.
Jacob Ambrose, 16, went missing from the residential facility run by Spero Wellness in Mt. Vernon, at least a couple of days ago (Saturday night, July 7-Sunday morning, July 8), although details a few and vague. There were reportedly two others with him, and apparently they have been located, but Ambrose remains missing.
There are few descriptives issued about Ambrose other than how they pertain to the photo shown here, which was reportedly taken about two weeks ago: Ambrose is reported to have had a haircut since this photo, and was reported as having removed the earrings he was wearing in the photo. Oddly enough, the other two with him - a male and a female - evidently were aware that Ambrose's neck is covered with hickies, which fact has been issued as a "distinguishing mark" so if someone spots him, that'll be identifying info. Incoming information since this post went up indicates that Ambrose is five-foot-two inches tall, weighs 100 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Since the runaway incident occurred overnight, Spero advised Ambrose's mother that they couldn't provide info on what the boy was wearing, and apparently the other two with him didn't or wouldn't say.
Ambrose is reported to possibly be in the Cisne area of Wayne County to the northeast of Mt. Vernon, or Flora in Clay County to the northwest of Cisne. Authorities aren't being clear on where the other two were picked up, nor why Ambrose's mother believes him to be in the two reported vicinities.
Whatever the case, if you see Ambrose, contact local authorities.
