EFFINGHAM CO., Ill. - Another wreck has occurred on Interstate 70, five miles west of Effingham, and police say this one is owing to driving under the influence of alcohol.
Illinois State Police worked the two-vehicle wreck involving a pickup truck and a Freightliner truck-tractor, which occurred at 9:56 p.m. last night, Friday, June 22.
Preliminary investigative details indicate that the Freightliner being driven by Dustin A. Isenhart, 32, of Godfrey, was eastbound on 70 near milepost 88 in the right lane. A black Toyota pickup truck being driven by Theran A. Allee, 27, Lakeside, Calif., was in the right lane.
The pickup approached the semi from behind at a high rate of speed and struck the rear of the trailer the Freightliner was hauling. Both vehicles came to rest on the right shoulder.
Allee was transported by ambulance to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. He was later cited for DUI-Alcohol, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, and Illegal Transportation of Alcohol.
