WHITE CO., Ill. - Authorities are looking for the kid who is alleged to have beaten a Carmi man, and they’re asking for help from the public.

Carmi Police Chief Jason Carter said that earlier today (Thursday, June 21), White County State’s Attorney Denton Aud prepared charges against Harold Artice Ivy, 18, and an arrest warrant has been issued.

Ivy is being charged with Aggravated Battery (Strong-Arm to another Male with Great Bodily Harm), Aggravated Battery (Strong-Arm to Another Male on a Public Way), and Criminal Damage to Property Under $500.

Bail has been set at $250,000.

These charges stem from the altercation that occurred Monday of this week on Fifth Street in Carmi, where Toby Sanders received great bodily harm and Jonathan Smith was battered and his windshield broken.

Sanders remains in critical condition in an Evansville, Indiana, hospital.

Ivy is described by police as an 18-year-old black male approximately 6 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds, with black hair and hazel eyes.

Anyone with information as to Ivy’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Carmi Police Department at 618-382-4633.
