MARION COUNTY: Major drug bust conducted by drug task force; seven arrested

MARION CO., Ill. - Officials with Illinois State Police have released information on a major controlled substance bust that happened yesterday in Marion County and involved the assistance of the area drug task force.

ISP said that on June 19, 2018, the South Eastern Illinois Drug Task Force (SEIDTF) obtained seven arrest warrants through the Marion County States Attorney’s Office pursuant to multiple drug investigations conducted in the area. 

The offenses included Delivery of Methamphetamine and Delivery of Controlled Substances. 

On June 20, 2018, the South Eastern Illinois Drug Task Force (SEIDTF), the Salem Police Department, the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, the Centralia Police Department, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and the Southern Illinois Drug Task Force (SIDTF) arrested six of the individuals. 

The names are not being released at this time due to the pending investigation. 

The membership of the SEIDTF is comprised of the Illinois State Police, the Salem Police Department, the Flora Police Department, the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. The cases will be prosecuted by Marion County State’s Attorney Bill Milner.
