CLAY CO.—Reports of a shooting death on Monday, June 10, 2013, were offset by Clay County officials the next day, but a death has been confirmed as of today by ISP.
Illinois State Police Master Sergeant Shoemaker has confirmed the death of Emily H. Fowler, 21, is under investigation. They are not, however, committing to the word “suicide” in connection with her death.
Fowler was the daughter of Illinois Appellate Prosecutor’s office special prosecutor Ralph Fowler.
Reports indicate that at some point in time Monday, a call was made to 911 (whether to ISP or Clay County is unknown) about a shooting victim, and subsequent dispatch indicated to “bring the coroner.”
ISP confirmed that the call or incident occurred about 4 p.m., and only that a “death investigation” was ongoing, with the case agent being Holly Finney, this according to Shoemaker, who is her supervisor. ISP could also confirm that Fowler was “found deceased in her home,” which is located on Owl Road in rural Louisville in Clay County.
Local reports indicate that Fowler may have committed suicide, as there was reportedly a “wound to the stomach.”
Why Clay County would not confirm a shooting is a question we have no answer to, and likely will be covered when ISP concludes their investigation.
