GALLATIN CO., Ill. - A man accused of sex offenses dating back two decades has been convicted in a two-day jury trial in Gallatin County.
State's Attorney Doug Dyhrkopp said today (June 13, 2018), after the trial, George A. Bivens, formerly of Shawneetown, was found guilty of three counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child, all Class X Felonies.
Bivens was found guilty this afternoon of sexually assaulting a minor child under 13 years of age three times, while he was over 17 years of age, in Gallatin County, over a period of years from 1999 to 2004.
The case was investigated by the Illinois State Police, and was successfully prosecuted by Gallatin County State’s Attorney Doug Dyhrkopp.
Bivens will be sentenced on July 16, 2018 in front of Judge Thomas Foster.
