MARION, Ill. - An empty residence in Marion was destroyed last night by fire.
The house, located at 608 South Hadfield Street in Marion, suffered major damage in the fire, which was being worked around 10 p.m. last night, Monday, June 4.
Neighbors say no one had lived in the home for about a year and a half.
The neighbor who reported the fire said when he came outside, flames were shooting from the second window from the left in the front.
While there's no information currently on what time the call came in, firemen were still on the scene at 10:10 p.m., and Marion Fire Chief Jerry Odum stated that neighbors had seen people come and go from time to time.
One lady who lives a block away said at one time an elderly couple had lived there and she had taken care of the woman.
Any further info obtained about the fire will be posted here if we get it today, or in a separate post if it comes in later.
