JASPER CO., Ill. - The high winds that struck the area late this morning caused a truck driver from California to crash after being blown over on its side on Illinois Route 130.
Illinois State Police in District 12 Effingham said the single-vehicle wreck occurred at 11:48 a.m. this morning, Thursday, May 31.
Preliminary investigative details indicate that a white 2014 Volvo truck-tractor semi being driven by Zhenning Yang, 40, of Temple City, California, was traveling southbound on Route 130 just south of Jasper County Road 500N.
The vehicle was struck by a strong cross wind blowing to the east. The truck subsequently was blown over onto its left side and slid into the east ditch.
